I personally feel that being called a judge is a privilege that should not be taken lightly. All the judges on all other court shows have earned their place, yes including Jerry Springer. Surprisingly he does have a law degree and has practiced law for numerous years before his first reality show. At a very minimum, it takes 9 years total to become a judge. This is seven years in school and at the very least 2 years as a lawyer. Judges who serve in the position typically have many more years of experience than that. To call Steve Harvey a judge for pure entertainment is mocking the entire system upon which it is built upon. His entertainment may last for a short time but it can't constructively lead anywhere because there's no legitimacy in the show in terms of the law itself on which it is built upon.
