A dreadfully frightless, soulless piece of drivel that I’m ashamed to have watched in its entirety.

Very insightful, often laugh-out-loud satire…some lagging moments here and there, but generally very entertaining.

I found the plot a bit convoluted, the acting not so great (Robinson seemed a bit embarrassed by his role; the talents of the great Judith Anderson were given nothing to work with). Film noir? How? H the film has more the air of a Hardy Boys mystery for adults.

Looked promising, but a pretty dull affair. The script is inane, the plot predictable, characters underdeveloped.

I’m pretty critical about movies, but I’d say all in all, this one’s entertaining with clever twists. The script generally works pretty well. The direction is tight, creating palpable tension where it should. The acting is mostly solid. The general premise might seem a bit fanciful, but hey, it’s a movie, and over time the situation becomes more believable.

Hysterical dialogue, beautifully delivered.
