Raised on this epic tale, I appreciated the way the story wraps its arms around the entire Star Wars franchise. The visual nods to past memorable moments in earlier films was especially moving. Fans will cringe at some try-hard plot developments, but overall it was not disappointing. I wish my dad had lived to see the final film to complete with me a journey we started forty years ago. I think many will have a similar sense of this film, namely, that it connects not only to the characters but also to the fans who have dreamed and discussed these ideas for decades.
