Beautifully written book and characters are so well-developed, you feel like you know them, but the ending is so abrupt. You finally get to the answers you want and the mystery is revealed at the very very end of the book, and although the ending has a surprising twist, the slow progression of suspense building up to it is painfully slow. Give us SOMETHING, John! The ending is SO abrupt and there is no epilogue or afterward to give you that feeling in the end that you want so badly when things are all tied up nicely and you just feel satisfied. This is a long book, so it's quite an investment of time, and I just didn't get the payoff in the end I was hoping for. I enjoyed the ride, having faith that the ending was going to be incredible, but it didn't happen. So much time and effort was put forth in the writing of the story, why not stretch out the ending with a nice epilogue too, instead of letting us wonder what becomes of these characters we've grown to care about?
