People talk about the MC's personality being hard to deal with or grating but he develops and becomes a better person. I'd rather have that than seeing no development at all which is what most anime suffers from - character stays the same the whole way through. Give it a shot if you have more than a few episodes patience - he acts that way because of what he was told and grew up thinking it without ever having a reason to think otherwise.
