I was expecting a plot twist that would throw the character into more self deprecating and reason to drift into pure murderous psychosis! Had the Joker discover that his mothers medical records were indeed forged and manufactured by the Waynes to keep her quiet after the Joker had murdered her, that situation would have sparked a reason to kill the Wayne family and start the feud with the then young Bruce Wayne. Storyline opportunity missed IMO...
