Solid little dungeon crawler. Played Minecraft back in the day, nearly a decade ago now, so it's nice coming back into the world. It's simple, but your choice in artefacts and gear make a noticeable difference in how you play the game. I really like the way levelling up works - you get points to put into enchantments for your gear, which give you buffs like fire damage or a chance to heal.
There's certainly enough variety to hone a particular playstyle, if you want to be a summoner or a ranger or a melee tank. None of it feels super restrictive, and you're constantly getting chances to switch up your style.
I'm only very early game and it's fun seeing how the mobs fit into a dungeon crawler. I immediately knew to kill creepers as soon as possible so they don't explode in my face. It sometimes feels like a bit of a slog getting through an entire area, but that's probably only because I have a fixation on exploring every single corner.
I only wish I could play on a higher difficulty from the start, as the default is absurdly easy. The difficulty has scaled up a little bit as I've progressed, but the first two hours posed literally zero challenge. It only got interesting later on when I was fighting swathes of different mob types, so I had to make full use of my kit to keep on top of things.
All in all, if you enjoy games like Torchlight or Path of Exile (unfortunately I haven't played Diablo, but it's on my list), or dungeon crawlers in general, I totally recommend it for a bit of casual play. I'm probably not going to put too much time into it, but the character progression seems deep enough and there's multiplayer. While I consider myself a "hardcore gamer", I like having a few really chill games to fall back on when I'm not in the mood for using too much brainpower. It's simple enough that it's very accessible to kids and casual players, but is rewarding and challenging enough to satisfy the experienced.
