This is what happens when we pander too much and lose sight of the purpose.
As a Black woman, I loved the first installment because we needed a Black animated superhero. Miles’ story was perfect.
This time, it feels like execs wanted to whitewash on a story that people obviously loved — and they ruined it.
From Miles’ delayed appearance to not understanding his purpose until the very end, this was an attempt to pander to everyone. It didn’t work.
Stick to Miles’ story. And don’t be afraid to effectively and succinctly write his humor, brilliance, and strength. We don’t need anything extra.
