I read this book two times. The first time I cried because the ending was beautiful and it touched my heart. The second time I cried because I understood that the lessons Little Tree had learned were what we needed in life, here and now. I loved the phrase "I Kin Ye," which means "I understand you" in the Native American language. The book tells us that understanding another was equivalent to loving them. The Education of Little Tree teaches us how we should live in harmony with nature while cultivating the qualities of humility, gratitude, and love as a human.
I strongly recommend this book if you have not read it. I feel that the book is appropriate for all ages, but young adults and older readers may find this more appealing and connected closely to the values in life they often ponder.
The Education of Little Tree is one of my favorite books that I will continue to read every now and then, just to take a break from this fast-paced modern world I am living in now - which is full of unscrupulous minds and greed - and gauge myself in the primal life of the Native Americans who listen to and appreciate nature.
