It's a soap opera in space. It's like the writers sat down and asked each other; "What if the astronauts that humanity sends on the most important space mission in the history of humankind all had the maturity and wisdom of high school students? What if there was almost no ability to function as a cohesive unit?" Honestly, if you want to see Jersey Shore in space, this show is for you. If you like a show that is written for people who like realistic ADULT interactions on screen you may want to pass. The only thing that kept me watching was I was hoping aliens would eat them all.
