I watched this movie knowing nothing about the original adaptation of the best selling book "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green. If I am asked my honest opinion, I feel a little let down by the story mainly because of the movie's pacing. The movie could have explored more of Kizie Basu's friendship with Manny a little more. When the movie tried to make me emotional, it failed miserably because the movie never stopped to make me realise or feel those emotions because it immediately moves to the next scene. Some of the interactions between the characters were also disappointing because the movie felt like it just wanted to wind up the story as soon as possible. The running time of the movie was only limited to 1 hour 40 minutes but they could easily have made it to 2 hours. Nonetheless, the music by A.R Rahman was the soul of the movie. It was really refreshing and I felt that it was the best part of the movie.
I know Sushant Singh Rajput really gave his everything but I lost my interest on the character Manny in the second half of movie. Sanjana Sanghi was great as Kizie Basu. She was really impressive throughout the movie. The supporting cast was also amazing, I loved the actors who played Kizie's parents. Their performances felt genuine and something I could relate to. I can definitely say an actor like Sushant will always be missed. His charming personality and beautiful smile will always be admired for years.
