Brilliant and genuinely terrifying. Couldn't sleep with the lights off for a week. And I'm pretty jaded with horror movies. It intentionally starts slow to immerse you - I promise if you stick with it the payoff is worth it.

It gets two stars for the cinematography. Otherwise, it's just a two hour slow burn that never comes to fruition. And I'm usually a fan of slow burn movies. The acting is good - but it feels like everyone is acting in a vacuum. There's no real interaction between the characters. The dialogue is sparse and largely pointless. There's no real exploration of anyone's character, and zero character development. No emotional investment. Just... Boring. The movie does remind me how much I want to visit New Zealand though. So pretty.
