TLDR: This movie will waste your time. Such a waste of good actors and an interesting premise. Poorly written script.

John David Washington (JDW) is a great actor, but the character he's playing is so badly written that it's hard to figure out who's to blame at this garbage of a movie that is Beckett. His execution of the array of emotions one would feel in his character's situation throughout the movie was worthy of all the praises and accolades, however, the incoherence of the storytelling puts all these efforts to waste as JDW, while impressive, looked like a mess.
Personally, I hate a plot that runs via senseless decision-making / outright stupidity, but that's exactly how the story was unveiled. The writers were so lazy to figure out better ways to introduce conflicts in the plot that they chose the easiest option, "hey let's make this character make stupid decisions consistently". The devil is always in the details and the writers spent no time to make it at the very least sensible. It's as if the character merely finished the story purely because of luck and plot armor, not because he made sound decision-making and logical judgment.
There's no redeeming quality in this film. I hope JDW picks better projects in the future.
