I don’t understand how when you have great source material to work from the results turn out so poor.
The story is filled with fluff seemingly to fill time slots and get the world the live in feels hollow and underdeveloped. The pacing is ploddingly slow despite nearly constant ominous & forbidding music. Characters feel flat, misunderstood and misplayed. The only bright spot was Ruth Wilson’s portrayal of Mrs. Coulter, unfortunately it is not nearly enough to make up for the rest, like Lin Manual-Miranda’s odd acting & accent or James McAvoy’s bipolar acting more fitting to Split than this. Daemons are mishandled, literally & figuratively, and given far too little importance and screen time. It’s just a mess.
The most questionable and unforgivable error is the early introduction of other worlds. That should have been a joy for the audience to uncover in a big season finale spectacle! Instead it was foolishly added early so we can have unnecessary backstory.
