As shallow as it is, Mulan is like a flamboyant circus with a fatuous acting skill from the main actress. From a brave young girl who dares to join the army, the movie builds the character to be a superhero with flawless characteristics, overwhelm, and superior to others. The CGI looks super cheap compare to a 200 million dollar baby, and god, why paid so much for cultural research while you can't tell the difference between the 12th century and the years BC? The setting of the house of Mulan in Fujian tulou which was not built until the 12th century, but she fought against the Xiongnu that raged in the BC years? It is just one of MANY wrong historical depictions in this movie. Looking at cinema today to see how far it has been developing in portrait of independent, intricate and powerful women, Mulan just falls short.

I just lost alll my expectations at the very first scenes of the movies. It's too lurid, too dull and too shallow to be called "John Wick version of Mads Mikkelsen".Or maybe it is.

Enjoy the movie yourself, it deserves more than harsh words from critics.
