I originally gave this game 5 stars, but after playing for a few weeks, I realized it is really 3 stars. I originally gave it 5 stars due to combat and story, but there are just too many negatives and immersion problems to keep it above 3 stars.
I’m enjoying the game. However, you need to stick to main or side missions to give a sense of immersion. The mission with Panam were very satisfying. Conversation choices in mission will change what happens, that is strongest part of the game. The brain dances are good.
Sadly, just wandering around like RD2 or GTA doesn’t give the same sense of immersion or random fun experiences. Hanging out in the world lacks uniqueness, your only random and emergent event is the same type of combat over and over again.
I never felt connected to any of the gangs. In RD2 you know to hate the Driskels, Cyberpunk lacks that sort of feeling. The gangs really serve no purpose.
The NPCs definitely are only window dressing. They need improvement. RD2 doesn’t do anything that complicate with their greetings, yet RD2 is a million times better at random greetings.
The police is too easy to get away from. There are no other emergency services.
The food vendors only sell items that look like they came from a vending machine. Huh?!?! Why can I not order normal looking street food and eat it while walking or standing near the vendor? Consuming food is not even shown.
Also, why can I not get into a flying vehicle? Why is there a metro with no train? Why are there no boats in the water? Why is there no other futuristic transportation like hover boards? Why are there no helicopters?
I’m playing under difficulty setting Hard. That definitely makes the combat challenging but rewarding, at least during the 1st few weeks. The game is now feeling redundant so I may need to set it to xtra hard.
This game is really buggy too. I’m playing on the PS4 and the performance and graphics are a problem. People spawn then disappear, same for cars.
This game feels like it was released at least a year too soon, maybe be 2. They should had added better AI, more realism, fixed the insane bugs, and only released on next Gen.
It has the potential for greatness, but needs at least a year of big time updates and patches.
