This is the kind of movie that I love to watch as an audience. What a wholesome watch! Tight dialogues with tighter script! Wonderfully directed as well as impactful acting by every character. Chutney wale uncle is such a fresh & funny touch to the whole narrative! Great casting of actors! Strength of Maanjhi Mai is so well depicted! Phool’s discovery of self and Jaya’s quest of freedom; how well narrated! Nobody was trying to do anything radical or grand. And the genuineness and honesty of the characters got clearly communicated through the screen. The music is outstanding too; the magic of Ram Sampath and Swanand Kirkire! Overall thanks to the makers for giving a platform to the wonderful story of Lapata Ladies!

What an amazing ride this book was! The story beautifully comes together. There’s so much personality given to every character; I felt as if I personally know all of them. And of course our sassy furry narrator is a class-apart. The character arcs are well built and aptly concluded. About the climax; I honestly didn’t see it coming but I am glad that the author didn’t end the way I was fearing it to be. All and all, it was a wholesome read. I’m growing fond of the Japanese authors with every book of theirs.
