Movie Review
The movie is about two Gujrati family...One with a family of 4 with two male unemployed supposed to do household chores(because that's unemployed people are supposed to do) and two dancers one garba teacher and other Zumba. Satya Prem aka Kartik Aryan failed law exam and wants to marry Katha (Kiara Advani, daughter of big businessman & singer) and then climax begins.
Revealing anything more than this about the plot would be a sureshot spoiler. But let’s just say that Satyaprem ki Katha isn’t the kind of film that you would’ve expected it to be from what you saw in the trailer.
Writer Karan Shrikant Sharma throws in a few socio-cultural comedic punches, taking swipes at typical Gujarati families and their staple foods like dhokla, khakra and gota. But the overall theme of the film is committed to driving home a social message. While doing so, the narrative often drags with scenes that don’t make the best use of the talents at hand.
Kartik Aryan really put this film on his shoulders..however Kiara was not able to deliver the role of a woman with unspoken emotions, actors like Supriya Pathak, Rajpal Yadav were not used properly. Rajpal Yadav is utterly wasted in a cameo that had a huge potential to bring good comic relief.
Movie is bit too long for the first half...too many songs to feed emotions. story was good but lacked connections. screenplay could be better, however few scenes between Kiara and Kartik are good.
