The first 2 episodes set the stage for the entire drama and is evenly paced. The climatic plot twists come in episodes 3 and 4. I thought episode 8 was ludicrous but that is only because I looked ahead to determine the killer. As a mother who lost my first born at age 20 months to a failed heart transplant, I could identify with Kristen Bell's character of a grieving mother even though I didn't turn to alcohol. However, I did not read the book and I thought the original writer of the book should not have had a young child die by a serial killer in a prison. That is completely unrealistic and nearly impossible. However, the character acting by Neil, Douglas, Carol and Detective Lane improved my opinion of the series. People dealing with their phobias and hallucinations may have touched a cornerstone of fears with audience members. Overall, it was well done. I just wish the US had more realistic screenwriters and story plots like the British with a tendency to not make the arc of the screenplay over the top for thrills.
