Susperia could have easily joined the ranks of dark psychological masterpieces, but some pacing issues in the beginning and an ill placed and unnecessary holocaust subplot nearly throw it off balance. Ridiculous aged make up on a obviously young actor is nearly comical. However the movie is so visually mesmerizing that it's all forgivable. Two unforgettable dance numbers left me transfixed. One long scene was so violently contorted but flawless in effect that it in itself should win an award. The end dance is a cinematic feat. A hellish dance/orgy that is both disgusting and brilliant, it's not possible to look away. 25 mins and the subplot should have been on the cutting room floor, however it should be witnessed to be believed.
