If you liked the older Yakuza games because of their combat system and other core mechanics, this game isn't for you. It isn't poorly made, and it isn't a bad game by any means, but it just isn't Yakuza. It is somehow TOO goofy, and the RPG-style combat just doesn't work well in my opinion.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE CALLING YOU A BIGOT FOR NOT LIKING THIS GAME. 100% OKAY TO DISLIKE A GAME BECAUSE OF POORLY WRITTEN CHARACTERS AND STORY. This game was one of the worst experiences I've had. In only the FIRST HOUR of gameplay, there are about 50 minutes of absolutely awful dialogue that's trying to disguise itself as a relatable conversation. AND IT DOES. NOT. STOP. There's so much talk of gay romance that it honestly became numb and dull. AND THAT IS ONLY THE FIRST HOUR. The game has pleasing visuals and audio (except for the rampant conversing amongst the unrelatable main characters and random people that have no well-established background.) After about an hour, there's a part in the game where Ellie and her girlfriend(?) look through a store of sorts, then find a hidden weed chamber (not making this up) and smoke a blunt (al the while having absolutely heinously bad conversations) then have a gay makeout session. The rest of the game is just about as bad, but for whatever reason, this part was really shocking and almost disturbing. So many good character opportunities thrown out the window or just killed off (yes, I mean that literally) and instead filled in with SJW garbage. Don't waste your money on this. Just watch someone else play it if you're entirely set on ruining your day.

One of my all-time favorites. A must-have for ANY gamer.
