Being First Nation and from North-Western Ontario, I was excited to watch this film. However, while watching this movie I felt like there was little character development and therefore little reason to care. It also didn’t do a very good job at explaining integral information for the audience to become as invested as they should’ve been. The book is literally a million times better; Joseph Boyden did a phenomenal job writing this story. - Unfortunately, this movie is a poor representation of how great this story actually is. 2/5 or below average imo
