The film is just centered around bumblebee which is kind of disappointing cause i would prefer all of the transformers were in the film and have much more screen time and also if any character had to get a solo film it should've been optimus prime cause when you think transformers optimus prime is the first character to come to mind. I do like bumblebee as a character i like all the characters in fact but i feel like optimus prime has the bigger story to tell and also the film just doesn't link to the other movies which disappoints me alot cause the movie was supposed to be a prequel to the first transformers movie but it just felt more like a reboot and transformers didn't need a reboot it was fine the way it was. then there's also the lack of fight scenes between the robots that just made it worse cause in the bay films you get the coolest fighting scenes with some even being shot in slow motion which is awesome now know alot of people think that Michael bay ruined transformers because his films didn't portray the characters as child friendly robots that look like they were built on earth like the bumblebee movie and the 80s cartoon did and because the plot was slightly altered (and in my opinion was actually better). And considering bay was the reason that transformers became a massive hit and got four sequels and yh the films can be chaotic and quite fast paced but that's why their fun to watch and the soundtrack was amazing too the theme alone just makes the film more enjoyable and with that in mind i think that Michael bay deserves a little more respect from transformers fans who constantly criticise him cause he didn't copy every little detail of the transformers lore but unlike the spinoff and the cartoon. The bay films actually portrayed the characters as huge complex robots that actually looked alien and even spoke their own language which is how it would be if they were aliens and that is how transformers should have been done from the beginning. Now i will admit bays most recent transformers film was a disappointment i wont deny that but i will say the rest of them were amazing cause they actually were. And the designs as well the original designs for the robots just looked way too friendly and manmade, where as the bay designs retain some of the old transformers design but making them look alot more alien they were cool and conplex at the same time and could actually intimidate you but other than that the plot for the bay films was actually more compelling cause the idea of two factions of ancient transforming robots from a different planet fighting a war and then they bring their war to earth and the humans became the autobots allies and formed a treaty and in later films the audience discovers that the transformers are part of earths history more than people realize such as them building pyramids thousands of years ago and became a huge part of our folklore just makes it more interesting where as bumblebee just didn't have alot to offer. Regardless of this i liked the film there were some nostalgic scenes which is good but i feel like they could've done better at least have more characters give optimus prime a good amount of screen time just make it bigger.
