Yikes..... it's a very clumsily made movie. I'll give just one example, and leave it at this: The Vietnam War flashback scenes featured the actors looking exactly the same as they did in the "present" tense of the movie. Spike seemingly didn't even bother to cast younger versions of the characters for some odd reason. At first, you're not sure they're flashbacks, and this makes the chronology of the movie hard to follow. I'd love to see more films dealing with the Black experience in the Vietnam War, but the Cliff Note bits of history interjected into this movie are sidelined by a weird plot and characters that are hard to root for. If you're not familiar with Spike Lee's movies, don't start with this one.
