To Kill a Mockingbird reiterates the prejudice, bigotry and racism that was and we know is, entrenched in the South. It specifically points out through Mrs. Merriwether's outpouring of sympathy for the squalid conditions of the ill-fated Mrunas in Africa, the ignorance and hypocrisy within whites and some religious groups regarding by cooly ignoring the blatantly absurd conviction of a clearly innocent impoverished blackman and his sentence to death in their own backyard. A fascinating re-read after at least 60 years. Maybe it should be a required adult re-read.

Good acting, great scenery, and I found Mary's gentle ladies very interesting, yet two hours is not enough time to showcase the strengths and weaknesses of early Brittish Isle female monarchs during a hugely complicated 16 century. Maybe a series or narrated docudrama would have been more satisfying. Game of Thrones is good fiction. But its not fair to interested viewers when you squeeze and muscle actual history to make a period piece.
