I have always held the opinion that books are better than movies. I have loved every one of Francine River's books. This story was compelling in that I felt like the book of Hosea demonstrates the unconditional, sacrificial love of God. If not for the explicit sexual scenes, I feel like this movie would have done better at the box office. I was surprised at how little it left to our imaginations, and that was really disappointing. On the other hand, although uncomfortable, I for one was glad to see light shone on child sexual abuse. This is still "shoved under the rug" to this day and needs to be brought into the light. Over all, I liked the movie and the acting was good. I would not recommend the movie, but definitely would recommend the book.
