Logan , charles actually dies and whole mutant extinction as portrayed in this film .This is all happening not in the same universe as previous x-men films (x-men :apocalypse,the wolverine) ,but happens in the alternate multi-verse according to critics .Don't worry guys Wolverine can't dies at least marvel studios won't let it happen. they will bring him back , just like they brought charles back to life in the wolverine post -credit scene who was actually killed in x-men : last stand by Jean Grey.
