Almost amazing. Still a great movie. Totally surprised by how it unfolded. A social comment and view on power and class. What happens when roles are reversed. Moliere would have liked this movie

Okay so I agree with most of the critical reviews BUT here are some of the film's strong points and why it's worth a watch: 1. The acting is very good. The cast is fantastic. From the hero to the villain and the beautiful princess, they all did a fantastic job in their roles. I loved the Monkey god in particular. He delivered his character in such a charming way! 2. The songs are absolutely beautiful! Especially the love song between the hero and his princess. It's SUCH A SHAME the animation was so weak. It does however deliver in the message of purity, truth, devotion and respect. I did enjoy the movie despite the amateur CGI effects.

As a fan of the original Dune movie I was really looking forward to seeing this one. Although the David Lynch version is now somewhat dated and slow in parts, it remained true to the themes of Empire (ie European conquests around our world), the struggle of indigenous peoples everywhere as a result of the oppression and appropriation of their knowledge and resources, and, finally the new class of people aka the Harkonenes who represent the pirates, the mercenaries and those who betrayed their own to serve and work under the Empires. This new version is visually beautiful and the cast is also fantastic BUT the script falls short, is boring, too slow and drawn out. Themes and symbolisms are lost. Maybe because we as a society have lost our capacity for self reflection and are only interested in smash ups, blow ups and obvious visuals. Such a shame. I won't be watching the next one. But I'm sure to those who haven't read the books or can't do symbolic thinking, it's fine.

It's just boring. I was particularly miffed when there was more movie at the end of the credits.

Despite LOVING the franchise, this movie was boring, lacking a lot of plot, not about GRu, no character development, story line that links properly with future timelines..... I laughed maybe 5 times. Please don't make any more!

A new movie but the same type of adventure. Shame about the 'white people' bashing comments. They're part of the stript and really spoil the scenes by white bashing which is just unnecessarily in these times! Dwayne's terrible at impersonations and tries to speak like Danny Devito but comes across like a weird cockny accent that fades out as the movie progresses. Anyway if you can see past that and the non stop violence and copy paste script then enjoy!
