I like the Metro games, and I'm sure this one will get better the more I play it. But after refusing to buy the game on the Epic store, I finally got a chance to sit down and play it. The intro was a bit awkward and when I finally got control of the character there was VERY limited tutorials, followed by a fight against endless respawning enemies where I wasted all my ammo. I immediately had to take a break from the game. Two years waiting to play this game and murdered before they even tell me how to run.
The intro is basically the equivalent of a D&D Dungeon Master killing a low level party so he can have his "super-cool characters" save the day. Its bad game design and iterates the fact that the player's decisions don't matter.
There is another review that mentions "every metro sequel is better than the previous game." I just want to point out that isn't true in the slightest.
