Im throwing 5 stars on this because it’s definitely a good game, worth the 24.99 I paid for it. There’s plenty to do, the story is engaging, and It can be a good challenge. It was very long, like maybe just a little too long, but in the end I was glad for the extra time as I missed the world when I completed the story and got the platinum trophy on PS4. I’ve read a lot of people didn’t like the repetitive nature of the missions and side quests. This is valid, as they all boil down to one of 7or 8 possible things to do, but I enjoyed them and when playing on hard II, each time I tackled a mission I felt the weight of my experience building to a more satisfying encounter. It’s a slow burn, but a good one.
The biggest negative, and it’s one I haven’t encountered before, is the voice acting. The cut scenes were fine, but there are these little snippets when the main character is talking to himself or other NPCs that are just strange. They’ve also used motion capture to give the characters life like expressions during cutscenes that translate into some awkward scenes where they seem to be acting a little too hard with no reverence to previous events or interactions. When I’ve just had an NPC yell at me in an emotional scene, and then the next second they’re radioing me for a favor like nothing happened it felt disjointed. It’s a weird thing to harp on, I know, but it was so jarring it felt worth it to mention.
All in all very fun game and worth every penny.
