I enjoy watching the programme and would wish that as we approach the 80th anniversary of world war 2 there were plans to include any of the few remaining veterans like my father who went from the terraced houses of Liverpool to the sea off the coast of Japan in August 1945.
His family fought in the Napoleonic wars in Italy, Portugal, Spain and France where his ancestor Sgt Paul Cosgrove and his son, an 8 year old drummer boy defended Hugemont.
I believe that another of his ancestors was a Ships Chandler, shades of the Onedin Line.
