I wanted to like it. But couldn’t. Glad to see some production value with locations and scenery. The story was gift wrapping paper thin and no bow. It really lacked the magic of an NYC Christmas. Why are we making these movies? Pentatonic kept it floating, but not enough.

We enjoyed the movie! The scale of it is what I liked the most. It was hard for me to hear different voices - the broadway musical burned into my mind - but I still loved it. Arianna Grande steals the show. So fun and I hope she is rewarded for her pefrormance. Making the first act of the stage production just one movie seems like it was a great choice. I wasn't bored and it never felt slow. I liked the added beef to the story to connect more to the animals and understand the backstory more. The music was really inspiring and i loved when the orchestra swelled. I didn't understand why Elphaba does the dance at Ozdust Ballroom that Glinda joins and I don't know where Fiero goes with the cub - leaving Elfie alone to sing and walk. Jeff Goldbloom seemed like a very weird choice. Not someone who would need to overcompensate with a huge OZ machine. Starting and stopping the tension during defying gravity was rocky. These were small distractions that felt odd, but didn't sink and overall awesome movie. I loved it.

Incredible and restores my faith in what a movie can do. Bravo!!

The hype is equally as hard to wrap my head around as the tone and story this movie tries to communicate. The performances hold up a dental floss thin plot and engaged me enough to keep from leaving. The only sense of wonder I left with why is everyone liking it so much, what did i miss?

It’s a wonderful show. The music is outstanding and you’ll be impressed by the dancing. I saw it long ago and was happy the music hasn’t changed. I thought the talent was excellent and so intense at the beginning. The scenery is scaled back from what I remember, but the large screen is a welcome update. I also loved the musicians, but felt a large portion seemed recorded. With such a successful run it made me wonder why they scaled it back. It’s still mesmerizing and I looking forward to seeing it again when it comes back around.

I wanted to like it. I wanted to like it a lot. Sadly it felt like watching a run away train or an insect dying in a jar. Spectacular at times, cringing, bloated and confusing most of the time. Through the palm on my face i thought, “I’m not sure what I was watching.” It’s unfortunate because there was clear potential that got trampled. Three stars for the production value. Negative stars for what story or thing was going on?

The story is amazing. The style and directing lost me a few times. I still don’t understand what happened to Paulo’s runway show or why she’d be talking live on tv to a psychic? Don’t forget to count the number of heating lamps used as set dressing! It had great potential, but misses all the marks.

It’s like a bunch of sketches. Interesting to look at. Great performances, amazing set decoration, but lost my care and left me uninvested.

I wanted to like this, but had very little idea what to follow or understand. It was pretty even though perfectly placed stuff couldn’t hold it together.
