We're totally blown away by the breadth of this guide. Lively, well researched, it's a new spin on this dramatic area spanning the Sierra’s Highway 395. We like to hike, camp and learn a little history and geology so it checked all the boxes. The chapters are organized by region so as we drove along we knew exactly what there was to discover.
Most of the books I've read for this area are “refreshed”. This one is spanking new written by locals who researched it for nine years. Packed with wilderness trails, lakes, dunes, hot springs, etc etc, it's given us a whole new respect for our favorite mountain getaway.

got the 2019 edition, read cover to cover. definitely recommend if you're looking for all the hiking trails on Kauai.
