So, I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt I needed to. The hate this movie is getting is so unnecessary. I'm a big fan of the musical, and when hearing really bad reviews, I was scared. After watching it though, I would have to politely disagree with the people saying it's bad. I found Evan to still be quite relatable in the movie, despite Ben Platt's age. From the moment it started, I felt myself saying, "hey that's me". The awkwardness, not wanting to order food because you have to greet the person. I believed he was like me.
The comedy was boosted a little I felt like, which I enjoyed because I enjoy a comedy break once in a while. I found Platt's acting amazing. The fact of how easily he could make himself cry was unbelievable. AND THE SINGING... fantastic on everyone's part. (It cut nothing short of what I expected from Ben Platt). Personally glad on how they handled the flow of the movie. It didnt feel choppy and it made sense. I like how they ended Evan with trying to learn about Connor, and how they handled him and Zoe (very similar to the musical) overall wished I could give it a better rating. This movie deserves more than the hate it's getting. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
