Having not seen the original in a while, I felt like the film was watchable, but only due to the fact that it was supported by the Beetlejuice IP. The plot itself just used the usual recycled horror tropes and made sure to sprinkle in some choreography to remind us how good Wednesday was. A new monster was introduced, but was defeated way too easily and the whole ending felt cliche and cheesy. Again, watchable, but not a cult classic.

Felt like they read a Wikipedia article on Slenderman and then decided to make a movie, based on scripts they had lying around for other horror movies that were successful. I took the bad reviews with a grain of salt and regret doing so.

No complaints about the acting, but the plot was super formulaic and the jump scares felt like they weren't even trying. The whole thing felt like I was watching the same Insidious movies, but with the twist that "Dalton goes to college". At times it felt like Sinclair Daniel was keeping the movie afloat by making it not take itself too seriously, but at the same time they could have done so much better with the general atmosphere. Three stars since I'm feeling generous.

Flashlight app, anyone? I swear, it's as if they're going out of their way to use fire. We weren't even graced with the excuse that "electrical equipment doesn't work around it for some odd reason". The acting was good, the atmosphere and lighting were ok, but I felt as if the lighting was deliberately dimmed for the sake of the atmosphere. The characters all appear to be technologically illiterate, seriously! In most of the scenes where the family members are stalked, there are neglected electrical lights and though one of the girls has a smart phone she uses to text and call other people, apparently she doesn't know about the legendary flash light app, or completely forgets about it. This remake did not age well. While it isn't a boring movie, if you're looking for a good Stephen King flick, then keep looking!

Nicolas Cage vs homicidal animatronics...I mean, the plot's pretty obvious, but the subplot...will his character speak?

It suxx!!! The premise is ghost pants, foreign child labor (and death of the foreign child), corporate greed, and ghost pants...ghost pants! If it had kept a serious tone when addressing said issues, it could have been respectable, but it doesn't take itself very seriously and makes you feel kind of stupid for watching it. I gave it a bonus star for being watchable, but otherwise that is time I will never get back.

The premise was hilarious, but grew stale kind of fast. Not sure that it's rewatchable, but it's certainly watchable.

The movie just feels like really bad mythology fan fiction. It tries to push modern social norms onto historical bloodthirsty warriors and really takes away from the story of Dracula.
