Flashlight app, anyone? I swear, it's as if they're going out of their way to use fire. We weren't even graced with the excuse that "electrical equipment doesn't work around it for some odd reason".
The acting was good, the atmosphere and lighting were ok, but I felt as if the lighting was deliberately dimmed for the sake of the atmosphere. The characters all appear to be technologically illiterate, seriously! In most of the scenes where the family members are stalked, there are neglected electrical lights and though one of the girls has a smart phone she uses to text and call other people, apparently she doesn't know about the legendary flash light app, or completely forgets about it. This remake did not age well.
While it isn't a boring movie, if you're looking for a good Stephen King flick, then keep looking!
