I have now trudged through BOTH seasons of this show and I gotta say it is a slog. If the only problems with the show was the PS2 cut scene animation and character models then I probably ly could have gotten over it. But instead The Dragon Prince is a painfully slow tale we have all heard 1000 times before. Dialogue seems to have came straight out of a TellTale game and is corny at best and plain unbearable at worst. Character motivations especially that of the "bad guys" is not existent. The pacing of the show is also trash, season 2 paddles around for 4-6 episodes before anything really happens, and then somehow after flying away on a Phoenix then taking about across the see the bad guys actually end up AHEAD of the heros. A positive point of the show is that it tries to be very inclusive which is great, though I'm not sure how a deaf woman is the general of the army. How does she give commands on the battlefield? Do her lieutenants always have to be watching her with binoculars? Would have been fine to include the badass dead woman, but maybe as a guard/captain for the general rather than the general herself. The show tries to be "emotional" but the cliched plot and abysmal writing take what little heart is left in the scenes and throw it in the trash. Overall, if I was 8-12 years old I would have loved the dragon prince however I am not 8-12 years old and thus its flaws were too great for me to overlook. The Dragon Prince feels like the product of a corporate boardroom sitting down and filling out a checklist for an adventure story and that's a real shame.
