It's OBVIOUS from these reviews that people out there allow the stigma of drug use to cloud their understanding and ability to empathize with those who are living a life of addiction. For me, a human who lived in that "world" until 11 years ago, I understood it from the start. THIS is the reality for so many of us! I see these huge named, big time critics, who can't let go of their bias and ignorance to see the film for what it really is: reality. Did you not see his "thought visualizer" drawn on a piece of poster board at the "off the grid" home? The fact that SO many people are unable to look past the facade of obvious that's going on and delve deeper to see the reality of it, only proves my recognition of just how many people don't get it, and by choice, I might add. This is an utterly genius film. It captures what those of us who have lived this, are trying to project to the world. Take your time. Try to put away your bias and think outside the box about the reality of addiction. It takes over all things that have meaning for us. It takes everything out from under you and leaves you with struggle. It's a hard and very harsh reality to wake up day after day and deal and see the world from two different perspectives, two different realities. Guys, I beg of you that don't understand, don't give it a low rating. It may keep those of us who need to see from watching. That's the whole reason I don't go by the "stars" when I decide to give a film a try. Too many people let others' opinions change their chance to learn something new or different or from getting a chance to learn about a human experience they may never otherwise not. This movie does take a sense of intellectual exercise, so if you're not willing, then don't bother ruining it for the rest of us. It also is very thought provoking. It's worth the time to watch it if you love other humans regardless of their humanity. ✌️
