honestly, this movie had its ups and downs but I personally enjoyed the overall plot and message it sent.
Here are my opinions on the characters in the movie (keep in mind these are MY OPINIONS):
Jodi - I personally like her and I felt bad for her in the movie. Jodi’s basically 6 foot 1 and constantly bullied. However, I think the bullying was overdone in the movie and can be offensive to those watching the movie. she’s a pretty predictable character who sort of backstabs her friends in a way and ends up losing them for a bit, then redeems them back near the end of the movie.
Stig - a classic “super hot popular guy who gets all the girls” type of character. the only twist being that in his previous school he was the unpopular kid. Then near the end he becomes a total douche and ruins everything for Jodi. I liked him in the beginning but then when Jodi rejected him in the end I was like HELL YEAH.
Jack - he’s a super important character in the movie. Not only was he super protective over Jodi but he took a punch in the eye for her. I was full on ROUTING for him. He deserved Jodi and I’m so glad they shared a kiss in the last scene. And the reason why he carried the milk crate was so so cute.
Fareeda - I’m slightly disappointed about her. She deserved more screentime and I was still confused about her character. I also didn’t really like her attitude since she was that one sassy friend who looked after Jodi. Personally not a big fan of her.
Harper - I liked Harper playing a part in Jodi’s life HOWEVER, I’m not a fan of how Harper was portrayed. She was wayyyy too over the top and annoying in the movie. One moment she’d be like “omg Jodi talk to me!” then the other she’d say something like “SHUT UP, THIS HAS GONE TOO FAR” like please just make up your mind.
the other characters were ok in the movie, I don’t see a reason to talk about them though.
Overall I think the movie had a somewhat empowering statement and message, which is: find someone who loves you for you and is always there for you no matter what, even if they aren’t ideal or perfect for you physically, as long as they have an amazing personality fit for you it doesn’t matter. Another message: love yourself no matter what, even if you’re not happy with yourself, you’ll always get through it and learn to love who you are. Both messages are personally so important to teenage girls (and boys).
The ending was my favourite (of course) as Jodi learns that Jack is the one for her and Stig was just some hot, nice, smart, tall guy who wasn’t meant for her. I love this ending so so much, can’t get over Jack and Jodi’s kiss. SO CUTEE!
