I purchased these books to read with my kids. They have been amazing for teaching principles of freedom, generosity, and truth. They definitely lean libertarian. I know that many don't like this book because they feel it comes off as callous, but it teaches children to be free with what they have and serve and give to others, without reservation. Teaching children that it is *better* for the government to just take a bunch of money from the people and spend it on its favorite programs seems silly. While the government typically means well, its programs are managed poorly and wastefully, and they are rife with negative unintended consequences. I want to help all those who are struggling or disadvantaged--its okay if I don't like the government to be the centralized means of distributing help.
