I was very disappointed with this movie. I think the people who made this movie did a poor job. I read this book and I loved it. I read many times as a child and I still read it again occasionally. I think the makers of this movie did a terrible injustice to this book. The indian girl, Karana, struck me as an intelligent, dignified young woman who the actress that played her did not portray her in that way at all. There also was no sense of time in the movie of how much time was going by and how many years she was alone on the island. They could have done so much more with this movie. The cinematography was terrible. It could have been so beautiful, so colorful with the colors of nature: the blue sky the white seagulls flying overhead, the blue dolphins, the beautiful sea and waves, the brown sand and the grass and bushes. The coloring could have been so sharp and stunning. The story itself could have been done so much better than it was. I would give this movie a D for a grade.
