Pros:
Acting, gameplay and graphics
Ellie's flashbacks (emotional, heart wrenching, and still amazing) (They felt like the first came again.)
I loved everything until you had to play as Abby in Seattle Day 1,2,3
Ellie and her allies are very likable characters
I really loved the chase sequence with Nora, I never felt more connected with Ellie's emotions. (Also the red flashing lights signifying anger in that sequence was a perfect and slightly subtle touch.)
Cons:
When I played as Abby it was obvious you were supposed to care about her, but I couldn't since she was badly written.
Abby's sex scene was pure shock value, the camera could've panned up to avoid the nudity rating in the game.
Seattle Day 1,2 and 3 with Abby was unnecessary. I already knew you were supposed to recognize she's not just a two dimensional villain when she told Ellie "you killed my friends" in the cutscene before you had to play as her in Seattle. (What's so great about the first game is they only explain things when necessary, what they did with Abby was unnecessary. But I'm okay with Abby's flashback of her seeing her dead dad, it was very well acted.)
I trusted Naughty Dog when they killed Joel, but they could've handled the rest of the game better. (Very disappointed.)
The ending would've been better received if we didn't need to play as Abby before. (I mean the audience can understand she's mad about everything else and also wants to get revenge.)
I felt like Ellie shouldn't have lost her fingers so she couldn't play guitar and reconnect with Joel, but that's purely just my opinion.
The ending where Ellie lets Abby go was always predictable, it's been used in so much other media platforms: movies, TV, books... There could've been a much more original plot.
Conclusion:
4/10
Naughty Dog can come back from this.
Also I don’t want a third game. I’d like to think that Ellie had a happy ending, and went back to Jackson, but that's also just my opinion.
(This review could've been longer but everything else I'd like to talk about is not that important.)
