It’s never a good sign when none of the characters are even remotely likeable. Mediocre writing leads to mediocre viewing.

So what? I don’t understand the fuss over this film. I’m not attracted to any of the characters and the special effects leave me wondering what this film is desperately trying to do. Maybe I’m missing something but I am amazed at all the Oscar fuss for this disappointment.

Usually I like Mel Gibson films but not this one. This terrible film is way below his usual standard of at least entertaining. This should be watched only if nothing else is available. The acting and dialogue is hard to watch and almost everything is predictable. The test of a good movie is when you can empathize or like at least some of the characters. Not here. Everybody is in constant danger but the viewer doesn't care. Oh yes, there's some kind of hurricane going on but it is somehow insignificant. I guess Mel needed the money.

Could have been a good series. But far too much time spent on Eva Hoffmann flashbacks that seemed only to serve as filler for a lack of story line. Yes, there are poor refugees, nasty guards and an annoying psychotic character but none are presented so as to deserve our empathy. In the right hands this could be a very compelling story.

Excellent show. The vehicles are always interesting and Ed, the mechanic, is erudite and brilliant, a rare attribute in people and car shows. It is refreshing to watch this program compared to the freak-shows that pass for serious automotive programs. Mike is reliably amusing and knows much more about cars than he lets on.
