The movie starts well, has a promising concept, but soon degenerates into absurdity. There are only 2 jumpscares throughout the movie and the demon is not shown at all except his hands and legs. And it was mostly shot in the dark, which gives no clue to the audience as to who they are watching on screen. And the climax was a big letdown. Frankly I had expected a big showdown between the protagonist and the demon but it turned out to be a whimper. The movie is a waste of time and not worth watching.

Admittedly the movie is for children. But the plot, acting, and direction are too juvenile and childish. There have been other movies made for children but they have been far better than this movie. Had the potential to be a lot better but overall was a wasted opportunity.

Even though some scenes like the bursting of a metal pipe by repeatedly clattering it with a stone, or not having the tunnel found out even in 19 years of inspection defy logic, the movie is an allegory of what people can achieve if they don't give up hope. Towards that end, the movie certainly achieves what it set forth to achieve. And that's the lasting legacy of this movie, one that will stand the test of time. The haunting cinematography and the 22- carat gold dialogues only serve to enhance the impact of the movie.
