The soundtrack from this movie was the best part. It was amazing. The storyline and acting, not so much. I really wanted to like this movie because it was a black movie about black love, which is beautiful. The storyline of Issa’s mother and father was more interesting than Issa and LaKeith’s characters, but even it could have been developed more. This story just left me with more confusion and questions than having that good love story feel. It didn’t have enough depth to create meaning between all the elements that they were attempting to bring out. Both Issa and LaKeith’s characters were underdeveloped, especially Issa’s. Her acting was a complete snooze in this movie. LaKeith was sultry and sexy, but I still think his backstory and character could have been developed more. I was left with so many questions of why in this movie, it was hard to enjoy it, but I was jamming to the music the whole way through.
