Looking at this film's previous reviews, it's a bit of a marmite. However, I'm definitely on the 5 side of the polarity ratio.
"Guts out through my nose" were my first words after watching it. I found the album on Spotify and have listened to it several times since I saw it (yesterday) and want to see the film again, champing at the bit for the dvd/blue ray release.
I didn't feel as if I was watching a film, I felt as if I was immersed in something. Every once in a while, something comes along that defies description, and punches itself a whole category of its own. Like fiddler on the roof (it's nothing like it btw but), I felt I'd already experienced this somehow, Adam Driver's portrayal of rawness, Simon Helberg's vulnerability, and the music, driving us through, as if we were somehow part of it, not just observing.
I guess some people might not enjoy it, but you have to ask yourself, are they really people?
