There were many things wrong with the movie. First, it’s literally just a whole misunderstanding. Second, there are many gaps in the story. For example:
- How the heck did Elle get into Harvard and Berkeley? She doesn’t have anything that stands out (white girl who’s unsure about herself and doesn’t do any extracurricular activities. Also didn’t win any awards).
- Elle had her interview with the admissions officer. Only a small number of people get that opportunity, and those people are the children of donors who donated millions of dollars to Harvard. Elle needs financial aide.
- Decisions come by email. Welcome packets come by mail. Elle would’ve known where she got in.
- Her response to the essay was vague and basically said “I don’t know. I just want to have fun.”
- How are you telling me that Elle isn’t rich? She’s family friends with the Flynns, who are extremely wealthy (and probably bought Noah into Harvard because come on, there was no way he would have gotten in by himself). Plus, Elle goes to an elite private day school. Look at their parties and events! It must cost at least $40,000 to go there (per year).
- Elle’s mom and brother just made a surprise appearance at the end of the film.
- Chloe definitely had her eye on Noah, so it was strange that she just dropped it
- I get the two gay men part and how they came to accept each other, except that did nothing to Elle’s story. Those two classmates weren’t strongly connected to Elle and also didn’t impact her.
- I love how Elle’s angry and thinks that Noah’s cheating on her (so many red flags in this relationship) while she’s the one who actually did the cheating.
- Lee honestly should just get together with Elle. They’re always together and Elle’s way more important to him than his actual girlfriend.
- There was no character development, which is pivotal for a story. Elle experienced so much yet she still accepted Noah despite all her doubts. Nothing about her is different from the first movie.
This really feels like a Wattpad story that someone just wrote without rereading or searching up facts. (The irony).
