The movie itself is very good. But I watched it on Amazon where it was dubbed in English and that honestly took so much away from the movie.
Anyone who has enough interest in WW1, enough to watch this movie also reads. So subtitles wouldn't have been an issue. The English dubbing removes so much context and emotion from the film, which is very good (the film) if you can appreciate it for what it is. A harrowing story about a soldier in a Baltic nation fighting for his life (or what's left of it) and taking up his father's shoes in a sense.
4 stars because the movie is really good.
Minus 1 star for trying to make everything English, even if it ruins the material
Having personally been to Estonia to train their soldiers for a potential Russian invasion in 2015, I appreciate being able to learn about other sides of the war that don't get enough credit or attention.
The scenes of battle are dramatic and well choreographed. I appreciate the technology you don't see very often such as the personal shields they used to advance far enough to blast a hole in the German line. Along with hiding in piles of snow and brush as a spotlight swoops overhead.
All in all it was worth the watch. But like I stated, English dubbing stole something from this movie that cannot be replicated in non native tongue
