It was really educational and explained the sociopolitical complexities of how the atomic bomb at the end of WWII came about. Epically visioned which Chris Nolan does really well. But one of issues I have with all Chris Nolan films, and this film is no exception ,is he seems unable to make me care for characters.The relationships feel soulless.So I really couldn't empathise with any of them.or the consequences of their actions.This is apparent in all his films, and in this one in particular, a true story about one of the most devastating acts that humanity has comitted,is really problematic.

I have watched episode 1 & 2 and didn't expect the emotional and psychological reaction I would experience. I am having a gap now with episode 3. I would have been around 4 years old when this was filmed and it has brought back a bygone era for me but in contrast to that is the beauty of the the filming. 16mm film scanned in 4k and de-grained gives it such a now aesthetic. Seeing the bands interactions and reading between the lines is heart rendering really. I think you can feel they are rudderless subsequent to Brian Epstein's death. Paul McCartney is trying to step in but is too involved with the bands dynamic to be a manager. As a musician who has written within a band for many many years, it is very familiar to me to see the creative process. This is what is for me the most wonderful thing about this documentary. Seeing them form the songs before our very eyes, watching the frustrations of being in the studios for days and hours on end. This is priceless footage for me. The band members honesty and kinship is there and to think where that journey ended for John Lennon is leaving me bereft. UPDATE I watched the final film this evening as after 2 sleepless nights I had to get it out of my system. Peter Jackson has done such a great job bringing the rooftop gig to life. It blew me away! I wish they would "Get Back" here now!
