I'm a huge Uncharted fan and have played through all the games multiple times. I enjoyed all the nods to the games sprinkled throughout the movie.
I was wary going into the movie as I was unsure if the casting would do the characters justice, but I was pleasantly surprised. I see Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland getting some hate for their depiction of the two most iconic characters in the games, but I think fans forget this isn't current Drake and Sully, this is their origin story and as we have seen in the games, Drake didn't trust Sully in the beginning and Sully did see Drake as someone to use at first. The father/son dynamic doesn't come into play until later. I think they did a great job; the casting was great all round however Antonio B as the initial antagonist was just funny. I couldn't stop laughing every time he spoke, I just couldn't take him seriously. Tati Gabrielle, was a great antagonist, and fitted the role well.
The fight scenes were well executed and fun to watch, beautiful locations, same build up and pacing as the games, same humour, I genuinely felt it captured the Uncharted spirit. I really enjoyed this movie, if you’re a fan of the games or just want to see Tom Holland be awesome as he usually is, I urge you to grab some popcorn and check this movie out.
