I've only watched the first episode, but it was awful. It encourages children to rebel against their parents and that the parents are in the wrong when they try to stop them. Sydney wants her hair dyed kind of extreme because she is in seventh grade, but her dad, Max, says no (which makes sense). She rebels and does it anyway. After this, Max decided she could dye her hair. On the other hand, Max wanted to bleach his hair when he was her age. His mom said no, but he did it anyway. When Max finds out Sydney dyed her hair, he of course gets annoyed. Then Sydney finds out he did the same thing, she calls him a hypocrite. Max realizes HE was wrong (honestly he wasn't though) and let her get highlights after she disobeyed him.
